WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?
At Story Church, we believe the Gospel changes everything. These biblical convictions shape who we are, how we follow Jesus, and how we love our neighbors. These statements reflect the foundational truths that guide our teaching, our ministry, and our mission.
-
We believe the Bible is God's inspired, authoritative, and trustworthy Word. Written by human authors under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Scripture reveals God's character, His plan of redemption, and His will for our lives. It is our final authority for faith and practice, and through it God continues to transform His people.
Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 119:105; Isaiah 40:8
-
We believe there is one true God who eternally exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He is holy, loving, just, merciful, faithful, all-powerful, and worthy of all worship.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; Revelation 1:8
-
We believe God the Father lovingly rules over all creation. He desires that every person know Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. In His love, He sent Jesus into the world so that we might receive forgiveness, adoption into His family, and eternal life.
Scripture: John 3:16–17; Romans 8:15–17; Ephesians 1:3–6
-
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins, physically rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven. Jesus alone provides salvation and now reigns at the Father's right hand, interceding for His people.
Scripture: John 1:1–18; Philippians 2:5–11; 1 Corinthians 15:3–6; Hebrews 4:14–16
-
We believe the Holy Spirit lives within every believer, drawing people to Christ, convicting of sin, comforting, guiding, transforming, and empowering God's people for Christlike living and faithful service. We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit continue to day and are to be exercised according to Scripture for the building up of the Church and the glory of God.
Scripture: John 14:16–17; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:26–27; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11; Galatians 5:22–23
-
Item descriptionWe believe every person is created in the image of God and possesses inherent dignity, value, and purpose. Because of humanity's sin, every person is separated from God and in need of His saving grace.
Scripture: Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23
-
We believe salvation is God's gracious gift, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. We cannot earn salvation through good works or religious effort. Through Jesus we are forgiven, made new, and invited into a lifelong relationship with God.
We believe followers of Jesus are called to continue in faith, pursuing Christ with perseverance and growing in holiness through the work of the Holy Spirit.
Scripture: John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10; Titus 3:4–7; Hebrews 10:35–39
-
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all who have placed their faith in Jesus. The local church exists to glorify God through worship, biblical teaching, authentic community, prayer, serving others, and making disciples. Every believer is called to use their God-given gifts to strengthen the Church and share the hope of Jesus with the world.
Scripture: Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 2:42–47; Romans 12:4–8; Ephesians 4:11–16; Hebrews 10:24–25
-
We believe baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ and an act of joyful obedience. We practice believer's baptism by immersion as a symbol of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection and of our new life in Him.
We believe Communion (the Lord's Supper) is a meaningful act of worship through which believers remember and proclaim Christ's sacrifice until He returns. Communion is intended for all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ.
Scripture: Matthew 28:19–20; Romans 6:3–4; Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26
-
We believe every person is created in the image of God and should be treated with dignity, compassion, grace, and truth.
We believe God created humanity male and female, and that marriage is His design for a lifelong covenant union between one man and one woman. We believe God designed sexual intimacy to be experienced only within the covenant of biblical marriage. Therefore, all followers of Jesus are called to pursue holiness, purity, and faithfulness in every area of life.
Scripture: Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6; Ephesians 5:1–3; 1 Thessalonians 4:3–5
-
We believe everything we have ultimately belongs to God. As faithful stewards, we joyfully invest our time, abilities, relationships, and financial resources for His glory and the advancement of His Kingdom. Generosity is an act of worship and a reflection of God's generosity toward us.
Scripture: Psalm 24:1; Matthew 6:19–21; Acts 20:35; 2 Corinthians 9:6–8
-
We believe Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to establish His eternal Kingdom. While no one knows the day or hour of His return, we live with hope, readiness, and urgency as we faithfully follow Him and share the Gospel with others.
Scripture: Matthew 24:36-51; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–18; Revelation 22:12–13
